A curious thing is that at the time, I saw this as a chance to express a previous desire to migrate to Ruby (which has a very poor history with Windows) and the fact that Elixir runs on a virtual machine was one of my highest hopes to avoid the “Ruby effect”.įollowing the community from distance, I have to say that was a huge shock for me because the culture was different from what I was used to (very close to Ruby’s community). So, I’ve been flirting with the idea of migrating to elixir since 2017 (with only recently having the opportunity of doing so). My background for the past 8 years is basically around Microsoft technologies, specifically C# and ASPNET - which is needless to say a very smooth experience on Windows.
